Stainless Steel Kitchens

Bright Star Stainless Steel kitchens combine stainless steel cabinets and stainless steel countertops creating a site to be seen and a comfortable-sleek design unique for every Chicago, IL customer. Stainless steel is perfect for both indoor and outdoor kitchens. All of our stainless steel kitchens are made with Type 304 brushed #4 finish. The countertops are 14 gauge stainless steel and the cabinets are 16 gauge stainless steel providing sturdy and durable work surfaces and storage areas.

Type 304 stainless steel is crafted with nickel and chrome removing the vast majority of the iron content in the stainless steel and is intended for use in areas with lots of moister (like industrial kitchens) because it almost completely resists corrosion. When Type 302 stainless steel is specified we will always bump that up to Type 304 stainless steel because it is a far superior product at a very similar cost. In fact we do not work with anything less than Type 304 material.

Bright Star Stainless Steel also offers Type 316 stainless steel for our Chicago, IL customers that require corrosion resistance in areas that may come into contact with frequent steam exposure or high temperature acidic products such as tomato sauce. If a specification calls for Type 316 stainless steel there is usually a reason. Type 304 stainless steel is what is used in 98% of our jobs.

Indoor Kitchens

Indoor kitchens can have various wall features such as three dimensional 4” back splash with a 1" return to the wall enclosed at the ends, cabinet height wall panel back splashes including cut outs for switches and electrical outlets if needed or a simple rectangular wall panel that runs from behind the stove up to the exhaust hood. Indoor stainless steel kitchens include both lower and upper stainless steel cabinets as well as shelving if desired. Indoor stainless steel kitchens can include drop-in cooktop cut outs, (1) or more integral sink bowls, faucet holes and built-in drain boards.

Stainless steel base cabinets can include fixed shelves, adjustable shelves, drawers, pull-out storage shelves, pull-out trash bins, adjustable legs, single double pan doors up to 24" and double-double pan doors for larger cabinets. Standard stainless steel knobs and pulls are always included and upgrades are available if desired. The cabinets may require holes for plumbing, gas and electrical runs as well.

Outdoor stainless steel kitchens are generally set on a designated concrete pad that is prepared with holes for plumbing, gas and electrical runs. Features of outdoor stainless steel kitchens can include (1) or more integral sink bowls, faucet holes and built-in drain boards, cut outs for drop-in cooktops, warmers, burners, smokers, grills or char-broilers. It is also ideal to include at least (1) warming drawer in an outdoor stainless steel kitchens to help keep food warm as the cooking progresses. Frequently we designate a particular cabinet for propane tank storage and occasionally we see natural gas run directly through the stainless steel straight to an appliance.

Holes for plumbing, gas and electrical runs are built into the stainless steel cabinets to match the concrete pad layout and our drawings take all of that into consideration. When gas is being used we add venting features to the cabinets to account for leaks. For propane gas the venting is at the base of the cabinets as propane is heavier than air. For natural gas the venting is at the top of the cabinets as natural gas is lighter than air.

Outdoor stainless steel kitchens can have many features far beyond what a typical indoor kitchen allows for so leave your imagination open when designing your personal-unique kitchen suite! NOTE: Type 316 stainless steel kitchens are available if required.
